The best portable gaming console is coming

I have been waiting for the NGP for a long time. I found the idea of portable gaming interesting for a long time. And now the graphics get better and better, the consoles also get better. For instance, take the Playstation Portable, the graphics were for that time pretty good. It featured an 333 mHz processor, what you can call nowadays just slow. But somewhere, gaming on it was just as good - or even better - as an iPhone 4. It's all because of those buttons. Gaming is pushing buttons. Not guessing where you have to touch or tap, or having your fingers on the screen, what makes that you can't see anything anymore.

'Gaming is pushing buttons.'

And I do love my iPhone 4, sure. But the missing thing is a freaking awesome game! Just like Uncharted or Little Big Planet. But that's another point. I think, that a game will be successful, if only if it makes use of all the functions of a device. Some examples are Doodle Jump and Angry Birds. Those are perfect for the iPhone. But back to the NGP, it features a gyroscope, touchpad, touchscreen, two analog sticks, arrow keys, function keys, cameras and a compass. That's in one word: impressive. Sony showed us Uncharted for the NGP. It looks like that game will use almost every function of the device, and yes, I am sure this will be awesome. Sony, well done, the NGP will succeed and win the game with the 3DS. Oh, and it will hopefully be available in the holiday season for a price around the $300. And I really think it is worth that price!

Side-topic: Happy Planet Index

Martin Luther King had a dream. A beautiful dream, so did I. I had a dream. And in that dream, the world was full of low, hapiness and health, and it didn’t cost the earth. But is that what we want? At this time, the whole world is focused on those worst-case scenarios. The people on earth are always looking into the nightmares of the future.

On the one hand, the present-day world contributes to this problem. It’s all about the numbers and making the highest profit. But does this ensure that everyone is happy? In a survey, they asked people what was the most important thing in this world. The answer was: being happy, healthy and love.

According to a recent investigation, called the Happy Planet Index, the footprint-happiness ratio was the best in Costa Rica. How come? They don’t have any army, and they invest a lot in research to improve the hospitals and health of the citizens. Then there are the US. You won’t be surprised that it is the country, where the footprint-happiness ratio is the lowest. That’s not remarkable, because unlike Costa Rica, they invest a lot in the army.

On the other hand, there are some ways to improve our happiness. Being connected, active, take notice, keep learning, and give. These are the key words for happiness, and when you meet these conditions, life gets better.

Make sure that happiness does not cost the earth.

AT&T makes calling Japan free

I'm reading an article about AT&T making calling to Japan free. A pretty kindhearted idea, isn't it? But what if this is just some dirty advertising? We all think, oh, that's sweet of you AT&T, I will sign a contract, because this has never happened before. I don't care, I live in Europa, but hey, just think about it, okay? Next up is the more important news. The situation in Japan gets worse, especially after the explosion in the nuclear power plant in Fukushima. Will this become the second Tsjernobyl? According to the news, it won't, but those radioactive particles have left the power plant.
Uit de omgeving van de kerncentrale zijn meer dan 200.000 mensen geƫvacueerd. Enkele honderden zieken, ouderen en verzorgend personeel bleven achter.
For the English guys, here is the translation: 'More than 200.000 people have been evacuated from the area around the nuclear power plant. Some hundreds of ill people, elderly and nursing staff stayed.' In my opinion, this is a bad situation. How can you leave hundred of people, just sitting there in a dead city, next to a nuclear power plant that's going to explode? That's inhuman. Come on people, rescue workers, just evacuate those people, and make sure they will be fine and won't die in an explosion. I have lots of respect for those rescue workers, but please save them!

Microsoft doesn't know how to hold a pencil

Haha, I didn't want you to miss this. I copied this from Engadget, but it's sure an awesome pic. Microsoft, I think your drawing is as bad as your products. Oh, and they are called Microsoft Researchers? That idea makes me laugh! Enjoy it!

The browser war

The big 5 are Safari, Opera, Firefox, Chrome and Internet Explorer. In my opinion, Google Chrome is the best. It is fast, simple and minimalistic, but why on earth did they put that freaking stoplight buttons that high? It's a waste of that space! I'm irritated by it every time I'm browsing. And you may find me to be whiny, it is annoying. Oh, and by the way, the windows version is fine. Shame you, Google, you should do better for our beloved Mac OS X. So, get to your work and fix this.
Update:
I love you Google! You did it, I don't think you heard me, but maybe it's just some connection between us. No, joking, but I'm really happy about this! Check the picture below!

Buy that awesome apps!

Jailbreaking. I think most of you know what it means. It means that you can open your iDevice, so that you can install apps from Cydia or other third-parties. Yeah, and most people will immediately think of that illegal App Store. From my own experience, everyone jailbreaks their iPod or iPhone for the free apps. I must say, I did it as well. But after spending some time with a jailbreak, your iDevice gets slower and slower. The battery drains in 5 hours of use. So I made the decision to buy the apps and just accept that Apple prohibited us not to install those cracked apps. In a few words:
My life became easier.
Just joking, but in fact, it really is. Jailbreaking does not only affect your iPhone, but your whole lifestyle. You're getting arrested, getting in jail, just like GeoHot. Updating is the next problem. Actually, the problem is that you can't without losing all your apps. That's a pity, isn't it jailbreakers?

I spend I guess around the 45 euros, and I got all the best apps that are available. Isn't that what a single PS3 game or Xbox 360 costs? So don't be stingy, and just buy that awesome apps!

Believe me, it's so much easier without a jailbreak!

Hackintosh or Macintosh?

That's the question. Currently is it hackintosh, in my opinion. And that is just because it's cheaper. I bought a Compaq Mini 311 last year. Now, it is running Mac OS X 10.6.6. And it is pretty fast. That's the same case with my PC. It's home-built and dual-booting Mac OS X and Windows 7.
''Me likes Apple. Me likes OS X. Me hates high prices.''
I think this is what the most people think, including me. So, you made the choice to not buy a Apple computer. The things you're going to miss are: quality, simplicity, easy. Aren't that Apple's strong points? Nevertheless, you're going to install OS X. That is really hard, a big challenge. Kernel flags, Chameleon, EFI, and so on. Oh, do you still want a hackintosh? Next step is making your graphical card, sound, resolution and wifi work. The latest step by the way. When you passed those challenges, your hackintosh is finally working.

The big question is, is it worth the hassle? For me, yes. What about you?
